This song - which is now 20 years old - is still pretty badass. Right up until he starts rapping (?) at 3:15. White people still quite figured out how to rap without sounding like idiots back then. Most of us are still working on it.
The singer is like what Kurt Cobain would have been had he grown up in suburban Connecticut. Still a badass with an attitude but a bit more polished and affected. This song is from that weird period between hair metal and grunge. The Latter Guns n’ Roses era, if you will.
Bonus: The album version of this song has an intro from Pat, the famous androgynous character played by SNL’s Julia Sweeney.
